ALS, 1814 March 23 : Albany, to James Madison, President of the United States.

A draft letter by the American steamboat inventor concerning his desire to obtain funding and commence work on a project beneficial to the nation. He was referring to a steam-powered warship capable of carrying 44 guns; in October of 1814 the prototype was launched.
